Christians If you saw someone being Killed Would You Intervene?

Even if it took deadly force on your part to save someone from being killed would you help? Or do you hold the belief of pacifism?

Yes, I would.  I am not a pacifist by a long shot.

Great answer, at least there's a few who care about human life

I am confused to the separation of only Christians opinions? Yet, in answer- I think it is criminal not to intervene. How can one lay their head down and sleep well, knowing they did not try and give aid to another being?  What if it was your mother? and people of any faith or no faith simply said " well it has nothing to do with me" I should mind my own business? This question is mind boggling to me. I mean no disrespect to you. But how can any HUMAN not come to the defense of another soul harmed?

Because there are many Christians who are pacifists, and believe in pacifism. I just wanted to see who did and, who didn't
      I do agree with you

Good for you peach. Read the comments under SRI's reply some people won't help, and I find it Inhumane. It's the one that is Hidden for negative feedback

I didn't word this right, and have asked it again here
    http://monkeyshine75.hubpages.com/quest … -intervene

There is a hidden reply there that you should read. A person who claims to be a Buddhist, says he wouldn't interfere with the person's destiny to be killed. I find that inhumane

Different strokes for different folks... As Christians, we are not to judge others, even those from other religions.

That's not judging a person, it's judging a situation. Another human being is being hurt, or killed. You think it's okay to do nothing? I'm glad there's laws against pacifism when witnessing a crime.

People have free will in America. Nobody has to risk being injured or killed for others. What law are you talking about?

I talked to a Buddhist, who said Zen Buddha is Different from Buddhism. And read this to learn about it

There is a difference. I started as a Christian, then I studied many philosophies and religions from all over the world. I don't claim to be any. My point of view comes from looking at the high murder rates every week in big cities like Chicago.

Certain people, like parents and teachers, are required to report crimes against children. Some states make it illegal for anyone to not report a crime after witnessing one.

SRI don't tell me you don't know that if you can help someone, and you don't, that you can be convicted of wrongful death, and, or manslaughter?!

Sri Tposted 9 years agoin reply to this

I know in the big cities large numbers of people get killed every week, especially by gang members on foot and drive by shootings. People see it, but they don't get involved. If they try to stop it, they will be killed too.

I think it would be the duty of any person to help someone who is being attacked if at all possible. If you can't because you're out numbered, it's different, or if they have a gun. I wouldn't let it stop me if it was family though. I would die for them without hesitation. Good question

I would hope **anyone** would intervene if someone was being killed, whether they were Christians or not.

I asked this question of Christian's because there was some on the forums saying they were pacifists. I wanted to see if that was the norm for most Christians, or a few

As a devout Christian (who does not believe in the Church) I can say I would TRY not to kill the attacker, because there is always a chance of redemption (if not by Man, then by God) I would imagine, in a best case scenario, that I would try to subdue or quickly incapacitate the attacker... killing someone is only reserved when all other options have failed.

However, if the attacker turned his focus on me to try to kill me, I'd kill the prick where he stands or die trying.

I know you addressed Christians specifically, but I'd like to share what Islam says about such situations.

Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.”

    ~ Muhammad.

Lol ... No that's not what it means. If I am able I will stop it with my hands. religious background / ethnicity does not matter. What is wrong is wrong and therefore must be stopped.

I share your dilemma people on the forums reject everything I say. We are mirroring something back to them, and they to us. Thanks for sharing

it is a bit of a rough / raw / bittersweet kind of learning experience in the forums. But it's a positive step to bridge the gaps between us all. stay strong and never give up, but we also need to accept our faults once in awhile. smile best of luck.

I accept my faults, and can admit when I'm wrong, as I have on the forums, but the others don't accept me, so I'm staying away from there

They rarely accept when they are wrong, instead they ignore and bring up another issue. When they change the topic, you should know you won that round. It is healthy to give yourself a break ... Jump back in a month or two later. Don't give up. smile
